Sunday sunset at the trail

I wasn’t able to get my run in Friday, as I went to a movie. (We saw Spectre at the Alamo Drafthouse, which is all the way in downtown KC, so it takes up a whole night.) Saturday I was pretty tired from being out late, and I went to a Girls Night In party with my runner friends.

Sunday I went out to the Lawrence river trail for a run. Had I been properly prepared, I would have brought my handheld with my, at the very least. But I was in a hurry to start running before I lost the sunlight and ran out the door before thinking it through.

There were still many mountain bikers out on the trail for the first part of my race. I am really good about yelling “Runner up!” when heading up a hill. They are often riding too quickly to hear or see me coming. (Yes, technically bikes are supposed to yield to foot traffic, but it is much easier for us to jump out of the way. We are just used to yielding!)

Toward dusk, I had the trail to myself. Well… Except for a few friends I made along the way.

I did the 4.75 “race loop” and was a little bummed I didn’t bring water so I could go the full loop.
